Pissies (Fried Dough) with Honey and Cinnamon
Recipe by Foteini Papavasiliou & Charithea Papavasiliou

INGREDIENTS
- • 1/2 Village Flour (Coarse Wheat Flour)
- • 1/2 Self-Raising Flour (Farina)
- • 1/2 Salt
- • 1 Baking Powder
- • 1/3 Sunflower Oil (plus extra for frying)
- • 2 Water
For Serving
- • Sugar
- • Cinnamon
- • Honey
METHOD
- 1. In the bowl of a mixer or in a basin, combine the two types of flour, the salt, and the baking powder. Mix them and add the sunflower oil. Rub the mixture, meaning, rub it with your hands until coarse crumbs form.
- 2. Add the water and knead for 5 minutes until you have a soft dough. Cover with plastic wrap and set aside to 'rest'.
- 3. Take a little dough and, using a rolling pin, roll out round 'pissies' (fried dough pieces), depending on how big you want them. Put oil in a frying pan.
- 4. When the oil is hot, place the pissies in. Let them brown on one side, then flip them to brown on the other side.
- 5. Remove them onto absorbent kitchen paper. Serve by sprinkling with honey, or sugar and cinnamon.
