1. In a bowl or using a mixer (with the dough hook attachment), add the flour, baking powder, aniseed, sugar, and vegetable shortening, and mix well.
2. Next, add the liquids (oil, ouzo, and orange juice) and knead the dough. Divide the dough into 9 pieces. Take one piece and form it into a log. Roll it in the sesame seeds and place it on a baking tray lined with non-stick parchment paper. Score it into one-centimeter pieces. Repeat the same process with the rest of the dough. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 30-40 minutes.
3. Once everything is baked, cut along the score marks and return them to the oven at 100°C (210°F) for 1.5 hours to dry out into rusks (paximadia).
