1. Peel the apples and cut them into small cubes. You should have a total of 5 cups of cut apples. Grind the almonds in small batches in the blender. Do the same with the walnuts.
2. Preheat the oven to 180°C. In a bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, vanilla, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, cloves, 2/3 cup of the almonds, and walnuts. Put the eggs in the mixer bowl along with the sugar and beat until fluffy and the mixture turns white. Then, lower the speed and add the oil. Add half the amount of flour, the apples, and the milk, a spoonful at a time. Then, add the remaining flour.
3. In a round 26 cm springform pan, place a round sheet of non-stick baking paper. Pour the apple cake batter inside and sprinkle with the remaining 1/3 cup of coarsely ground almonds. Bake in the preheated oven for 55 minutes to 1 hour. To check if it's done, insert a knife into the center of the cake; it should come out dry.
