About the festival
The 6th Traditional Food and Professions Festival returns with chef Savvas Savva, live music, and activities for children.
Temvria is once again preparing to host a festival brimming with authentic flavors, music, dance, and glimpses into old Cypriot life. The 6th Traditional Food and Professions Festival will take place on Saturday, September 12, 2026, starting at 4:30 PM, in the village square, with free admission.
For an entire afternoon, the village square will transform into a vibrant hub of local tradition. Visitors can sample traditional delicacies, watch artisans at work, and discover professions that were once an integral part of daily life in Cypriot villages.
Among the flavors on offer, highlights include Temvria's katsoures, warm palouzes, trachanas, village bread, local fruits, crispy loukoumades, and traditional soutzoukkos. These are products and preparations closely linked to agricultural production, the grape harvest season, and Temvria's cuisine.
Of particular interest is the preparation of Temvria's katsoures with the participation of renowned TV chef Savvas Savva. The public will have the opportunity to observe the process firsthand and learn more about this distinctive local delicacy, which the villagers continue to make and keep alive.
Concurrently, demonstrations of traditional professions and techniques will take place. Zivania distillation, kolotzi decoration, loom weaving, and basketry will bring back to the forefront knowledge and skills passed down through generations.
The artistic program will add even more rhythm to the celebration. Dimitris Mesimeris and Eirini Pelagia will provide musical entertainment, while the EAC Larnaca Cultural Group will present a music and dance program featuring traditional sounds and dances.
The event is also family-friendly, with mini-train rides available for younger visitors. This way, children and adults alike can share a delightful afternoon in the square, filled with flavors, entertainment, and a connection to the local cultural heritage.
The festival offers another wonderful opportunity to explore the Solea Valley and get to know Temvria. Above all, however, it is a celebration that keeps alive the recipes, professions, and stories of a Cyprus worth remembering and passing on to future generations.
