About the festival
The 6th Grape Harvest Festival invites us to participate in the grape harvest and discover the flavors and customs of viticultural Cyprus.
Panagia village in the Paphos district welcomes autumn with a grand celebration dedicated to the grape harvest and the region's rich viticultural tradition. The 6th Grape Harvest Festival will take place on Sunday, September 13, starting at 15:00, in the village square, with free admission.
The program will begin at 15:00 with a gathering in the square and a short walk to the vineyards. There, visitors will have the opportunity to participate in grape harvesting and enjoy free traditional 'moupoukkoma' (grape must). The return to the square is scheduled for 16:00, followed at 16:20 by the traditional grape pressing and the official opening of the festival.
From 17:00, music and dance will take center stage. Michalis Hadjimichael's musical ensemble will present a traditional Cypriot program, followed by dance performances from the Ethnarch Makarios III Cultural Foundation and the Konia Cultural Folklore Workshop.
Throughout the celebration, visitors of all ages can observe or participate in activities showcasing grape harvest customs. These include grape pressing, distillation of traditional zivania, and the preparation of palouze (grape jelly) and soutzoukkos (grape must candy).
The venue will also feature stalls selling traditional products and delicacies made with grapes, handicraft workshops, and a presentation of local wines with free tasting. Visitors can also view an exhibition of traditional costumes and photographs depicting life in Panagia, while children can enjoy a kids' corner and donkey rides.
For public convenience, free bus transportation to the festival will be offered, departing at 14:00 from the entrance of UNESCO Park and returning at 21:00. Guided tours will be available in Greek and English, and advance booking is required.
