About the festival
Kissonerga in the Paphos district is preparing to honor one of the region's most distinctive products with a special celebration dedicated to the banana.
The Banana Festival will take place on Sunday, October 18, from 15:00 to 21:00, in the village square, inviting residents and visitors to a delightful autumn gathering.
Banana cultivation is inextricably linked to Kissonerga's history, economy, and identity. The characteristic banana plantations of the area have been an integral part of the western Paphos landscape for decades, while the small Cypriot banana stands out for its intense aroma and sweet taste. Through the festival, the community aims to highlight this important product, as well as the people who continue to cultivate it with knowledge, patience, and passion.
For six hours, Kissonerga square will transform into a vibrant hub of meeting, tasting, and entertainment. The banana will, of course, take center stage, inspiring various sweet creations and preparations. At the same time, visitors will have the opportunity to learn more about local production and discover the community's close relationship with agriculture. The event also offers a wonderful opportunity for a Sunday excursion to the Paphos district and a chance to get acquainted with Kissonerga.
The celebration aims to bring together all ages in a welcoming environment that combines tradition, local gastronomy, and the joy of human connection. More than just a celebration of a beloved fruit, the Banana Festival is a way to promote Kissonerga's agricultural heritage and reminds us of the importance of supporting local producers and Cypriot products.
