About the festival
An all-day celebration featuring traditional sweets, handmade creations, dance, 'tsiattista', food, and activities for all ages.
Kakopetria is preparing to host the Spoon Sweet Festival for the seventh year, a grand celebration dedicated to the flavors, creations, and traditions of the Cypriot countryside. This year's event will take place on Sunday, September 27, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM, with free admission.
The festival, held since 2017, spotlights one of the most characteristic treats of Cypriot hospitality: the spoon sweet. Made from fruits, nuts, and other ingredients from the Cypriot land, it continues to hold a special place in homes and local traditions.
At the event's stalls, visitors will have the opportunity to discover and taste various spoon sweets, while also meeting the people who continue to prepare them. Traditional recipes will meet new culinary suggestions, highlighting the variety and creativity that such a familiar treat can hold.
The program will also include competitions and presentations of handmade crafts, offering a platform for creators and artisans. Additionally, food vendors will be on-site with various food options, complementing the day's gastronomic offerings.
Dance and martial arts schools will showcase their work, while 'tsiattista' will bring the element of oral Cypriot tradition to the celebration. The program also includes live presentations and shows, which will keep the audience engaged until late in the evening.
Lasting twelve hours and featuring activities for different ages, the 7th Spoon Sweet Festival is a wonderful choice for families and groups of friends. It also offers the ideal opportunity to stroll through the picturesque alleys of Kakopetria and get acquainted with one of Cyprus's most beloved mountain villages.
