About the festival
Two of Tilliria's most characteristic products will be celebrated at a major summer festival in Kato Pyrgos. The 9th Fig and Halitzi Festival will take place on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at the community's Primary School stadium.
The festival is dedicated to the region's famous fig and halitzi, the traditional soft cheese that forms a significant part of Tilliria's gastronomic identity. Through the event, visitors will have the opportunity to learn more about these two products, their preparation methods, and their close connection to the daily life and history of the area.
Free treats based on figs and halitzi will be offered, and local products, food, and drinks will also be available for purchase. This is a celebration that highlights the authentic flavors of the region and supports the people who continue to keep traditional production methods alive.
The artistic program will begin at 21:30, with Antri Karantoni providing the evening's entertainment. Earlier, at 21:00, an official welcome and greetings will take place.
While the journey to Kato Pyrgos may be long, the views towards the Tilliria coastline and the pine-covered slopes of Troodos make it special.
The festival is also a great opportunity to discover one of Cyprus's most unique regions, sample its products, and enjoy local hospitality.
