About the festival
The 36th Palouze Festival invites us to a beautiful Sunday afternoon filled with flavors, music, and Cypriot traditions.
The aroma of fresh must and warm palouze will once again fill the picturesque streets of Lofou on Sunday, September 27. The village's beloved festival returns for its 36th year, inviting young and old to experience one of the most characteristic delicacies of the Cypriot grape harvest.
The event will begin at 3:30 PM in the courtyard of Lofou Primary School and is dedicated to the memory of Savvas and Stella Theophanous. Until 6:00 PM, visitors will have the opportunity to taste free warm palouze, while also observing its preparation process and discovering its close connection to the region's viticultural tradition.
The festive atmosphere will be complemented by a rich program of Cypriot music and dances, featuring the musical ensemble of Stefanos Pelekanis. The melodies, traditional rhythms, and lively spirit will create the perfect setting for an authentic Sunday gathering in the heart of the village.
Special emphasis is also placed on younger visitors, with a children's corner offering activities. The program would not be complete without the traditional grape pressing, an experiential activity that introduces children to one of the most characteristic customs of the Cypriot grape harvest.
The 36th Palouze Festival is held under the auspices of the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, Evi Tsolaki. The event is organized by the Lofou Community Council, the Lofou Expatriates Association, and the Lofou Women's Committee.
