About the festival
The aromas of palouzes, the flavors of Cypriot cuisine, and Commandaria in your glass offer the perfect reason for an autumn getaway to Kalo Chorio, Limassol. The 2nd Gastronomy Festival 'Commandaria and Tradition Days' will take place on Saturday and Sunday, October 17-18, following the postponement of the original September event due to mourning in the community.
At its heart is Commandaria and its connection to the land that produces it. Kalo Chorio is one of the 14 Commandaria villages, where viticulture and the production of this sweet wine are a significant part of local life. The indigenous Xynisteri and Mavro grape varieties, sun-dried grapes, and the region's unique conditions define its character.
The festival brings this tradition to the village's central square, featuring palouzes, soutzoukos, pies, as well as halloumi and resi making. Visitors can participate in palouzes preparation, taste traditional products for free, and sample Commandaria and zivania.
Part of the appeal of such an outing is discovering the process behind these beloved flavors. Stand alongside those who prepare them, observe their craft, and uncover the details we often overlook when a product arrives ready-made at our table.
For those who love village festivals, this two-day event offers a great opportunity to gather friends and immerse yourselves in the flavors and people of Kalo Chorio.
