About the festival
The Association of Maronite Resettlers is organizing a two-day festival dedicated to the carob, a fruit deeply connected to Cypriot land and tradition. The 1st Carob Festival will take place on Saturday, August 29, and Sunday, August 30, combining knowledge with taste, entertainment, and community gathering.
The program begins on Saturday afternoon with a workshop on preparing traditional recipes using carob syrup. This will be followed by the theatrical performance "Marikkou the Seamstress" by Stavroula Leonidou, while visitors can enjoy souvlakia and koulourouthkia with honey. Simultaneously, there will be a market featuring carob products and local delicacies, as well as a photography exhibition.
Events continue on Sunday morning with greetings and two interesting talks. Markos Markou will discuss carob tree protection, while Dr. Maria Kantilafti Sergiou will present the nutritional value of carob. The market with carob products and other local goods will also be open again.
All net proceeds from the event will be donated to the Parents' Association of Agios Maronas Primary School.
Information: Saturday, August 29 from 17:00 and Sunday, August 30, 2026 from 09:30, at the church hall-club and village square. Organized by: Association of Maronite Resettlers.
